Gerald E. “Bud” Harvey, 74, of Indianola died of lung cancer Sunday at home. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Van Meter, of which he was a member.

Mr. Harvey was born in Des Moines and had lived in Dallas County since 1964 before moving to Indianola 11 years ago. He was a retired operating engineer with Forrest and Associates Masonry and a member of Union Local 234. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Doug of Missouri and Mark of Stillwell, Kan.; four daughters, Franci Finney of Indianola, Jodine Smith of Van Meter, Sue Hutzell of Adel and Trudy Harvey of Des Moines; two stepdaughters, Ellen Kline of Indianola and Michelle Foster of Newton; a stepson, Gary Stone of Texarkana, Texas; a brother; four sisters; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Jean.

Memorial contributions may be made to Intrust Hospice or his church. Neptune Cremation Society of Iowa is handling arrangements.
