EARLHAM FUNERAL FOR MRS. THOMSON

Funeral services were conducted last Saturday afternoon from the Earlham Presbyterian church for Mrs. Hugh S. Thomson, a long-time resident of the Earlham community.

Mrs. Thomson died Aug. 12 at Spirit Lake where she had been residing in recent years to be be near her daughter, Mrs. George Jeck. She was 84 years of age and had been an invalid for several years.

The daughter of Charles C. and Maria Rainey Hale, Jennie Hale was born June 26, 1869.

Her early life was spent in Winterset and community where she was united in marriage to Hugh S. Thomson.

Mrs. Thomson was an active member of the Earlham Presbyterian church. She was a past president of the church social circle and was a former Sunday school teacher.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the Past Matron's Club. She was also a member of Chapter A.G. P.E.O.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Allen Stead of Jackson, Wyoming and Mrs. George Jeck of Spirit Lake, Ia.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeck and daughter Dorothy of Spirit Lake accompanied the body of her mother to Earlham.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Robert who died in infancy.

Officiating at the services last Saturday was the Rev. S. R. Overholzer, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.

JENNIE HALE THOMSON

Jennie Hale Thomson, daughter of Charles C. Hale and Maria Rainey was born June 26, 1869 and passed away August 12 at Spirit Lake, Iowa at the age of 84 years, one month and 14 days.

Her early life was spent in Winterset and community, where she was united in marriage to Hugh S. Thomson. To this union was born three children, Robert who died in infancy, Margaret Hale and Gladys Harriett.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Allen Steed of Jackson, Wyoming and Mrs. George Jeck of Spirit Lake, Iowa; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Thomson was an active member of the Presbyterian church during her residence in Earlham. She was a past president of the Social Circle, a Sunday School teacher, and always gave generously of her time and talent to the church and community.

She enjoyed young people and they were always welcome in her home. Her hospitality will be remembered by young and old alike.

Mrs. Thomson was a member of the Order of Easter Star and a charter member of the Past Matron's Club.

She was a kind and loving mother, patient in the times of stress, always ministering to those in need. She will be missed by not forgotten.

Services were conducted from the Presbyterian church last Saturday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. S. R. Overholser. She was laid to rest in the Earlham cemetery
