Death of George Howard

George Washington Howard, long time resident of Winterset, passed away, early, Tuesday morning after a short illness.

Mr. Howard was 77 years of age at the time of his death. He was born at Peru, Iowa, August 30, 1858, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Howard. The funeral services will be held at Tidricks Funeral home at 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday). Burial will be in the Baptist cemetery north of town.

GEORGE HOWARD DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS

George Howard, 77, died early Monday morning at the home of his daughter Hazel Howard, following a paralytic stroke. Services will be this afternoon, Thursday, at 2:30 at the Tidrick funeral home conducted by the Rev. J. H. Cochrane, jr., pastor of the Baptist church. George Washington Howard was born in Madison county July 23, 1859 and had lived here all his life. He was married to Sarah Evelyn Moore June 8, 1881.

He leaves five sons and four daughters, Charles, John and Hazel Howard and Mrs. Hattie Purcell of Winterset; Alfred Howard and Mrs. Daisy Wright of Indianola; Mrs. Vera Willshons of Des Moines; Ernest and Lawrence Howard of California; 21 grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Emma Hoxie.
