Benjamin VanBuskirk, the aged father of Mrs. L. W. Harrell of Lincoln township, died on Monday evening, Nov. 14, after being paralyzed for several years.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. B. Chancellor at the Harrell home at half past one o'clock today, followed by burial in Winterset cemetery.

BENJAMIN VAN BUSKIRK

Benjamin Van Buskirk was born in Nyack, N.Y., June 18, 1838 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. W. Harrell, on Nov. 14, 1921, being 83 years, 4 months and 26 days old at the time of his death,

He, with his parents moved to New Jersey when ten years of age. In 1865 he moved to Prairie City, Ill., and four years later came to Madison county, and settled on a farm three and a half miles south of Winterset, where he continued to reside for about 20 years. He then went to Grand Island, Nebr., where he remained for 20 years, before returning to Madison county.

During the last five years he has lived with his daughter on the farm southwest of Winterset. On Dec. 24, 1858 he was united in marriage to Martha Jane Demorest, and to this union were born two children, Mrs. L. W. Harrell of Madison county and Thomas VanBuskirk of Long Beach, Calif. Until stricken with paralysis two years ago, he was always an unusually genial man, a kind husband and a thoughtful father and a good neighbor.

He leaves to hold him in fond memory the companion, the two children and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, besides a goodly number of sympathetic and kind hearted friends.
