John Henry Pope Dies At 84 Years

Funeral Services Held on Saturday With Burial at Webster.

John Henry Pope, well-known Madison county farmer, died at Winterset last Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the age of 84 years.

Mr. Pope was born at Webster on Feb. 25, 1868. His life was spent as a farmer in Iowa and Kansas.

He was married Jan. 14, 1890, to Mary Allen Wilson. They were the parents of five children. The wife and three of the children preceded the father in death. Surviving are a son, Charles Pope of Burlington and a daughter, Eva Pope of Parsons, Kan. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. May Sawyers of Winterset; in addition to six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richards Funeral home conducted by the Rev. Sherman Hanson, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made at Webster.
