June 17, 1998George Joseph Dooley, 83, of Winterset died from a heart ailment June 13, 1998, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Ed Pfeffer officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Cemetery in Madison County.
George Dooley was born June 4, 1915, in Cumming to George and Goldie (McKenzie) Dooley. He married Mary Cassady on May 6, 1942, at Churchville. George, a farmer, was a lifetime area resident. He also was a volunteer on the Harvest Committee at Living History Farms, a member of the Central Hawkeye Gas Engine and Tractor Association and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Suzanne Smith (husband) Bruce of Oskaloosa; two brothers, Clarence of Martensdale and Francis of Prole; three sisters, Mabel King of Urbandale, Sister Mary Dooley of Clinton and Mary Cathrine Pierce of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
