Wednesday, February 1, 2006Lucile Loomis, 92, of Winterset died Jan. 23, 2006, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Feb. 1) at the Lorimor United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Burial was at the Lorimor Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Willard McNichols; and three sisters, Irene McNichols, Iola McNichols and Ethel Armstrong.
Lucile Loomis was born July 27, 1913, in Madison County to William Ross and Verna Mae (Leach) McNichols and was a 1933 graduate of Patterson High School. On Dec. 24, 1938, she married Homer H. Loomis in Greenfield. She grew up in Madison County and later lived in Clarke County, Madrid and Ames before moving to Union County in 1972. Later, she moved to Winterset. A homemaker, Lucile also had been a nurse’s aide. She was a member of the Lorimor United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Stitch and Chatter Club.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Loomis of Junction City, Ohio, and Dean Loomis of Winterset; one daughter, Lois Gray of Bondurant; two brothers, Wilber McNichols of Winterset and Kenneth McNichols of Bondurant; a sister, Blanche white of Winterset; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to Madison County Memorial Hospital or the Lorimor United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
