Kenneth L. Adams, 77, of Winterset died Jan. 23, 2006, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Earlham Church of Christ with Pastor Steve Allison officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

Kenneth Adams was born Dec. 5, 1928, to Henry and Minnie (Fisher) Adams of Centralia, Kan. He attended local country schools and Centralia High School. He graduated from high school while serving in the United States Navy from October 1947 to October 1952. On March 24, 1948, he married Deva Thompson. Following his discharge from the Navy, Kenneth worked for ten years at the Armour Meat Packing Plant in St. Joseph, Mo. He then worked for 31 years at Inland Cold Storage in Kansas City, Kan.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lela Elder and Kathryn McLaughlin, and two brothers, Charles and William Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Deva, of Winterset; one daughter, Judy Lucas of Earlham; three sisters, Lydia potter and Mary Jean Lindeen, both of Seneca, Kan., and Donice Barrett of Sabetha, Kan.; a brother, Raymond Adams of Centralia, Kan.; sand four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter, Earlham and Redfield.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 26, 2006 for Kenneth L. Adams at 11:00 a.m. at the Earlham Church of Christ in Earlham, Iowa. Pastor Steve Allison officiated and Linda Smith was the pianist.

Congregational hymns were “Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling”, “In The Garden”, and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”.

Pallbearers were Dan Miller, Jim Nelson, Mike Derzinski, Randy Nelson, J.R. Rasco, J.D. Miller.

Kenneth L. Adams was born the son of Henry and Minnie Fisher Adams in Centralia, Kansas on December 5, 1928 and died January 23, 2006 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset following an unexpected complication due to surgery. Kenneth was 77 years, 1 month and 18days.

Kenneth attended local country schools and then attended Centralia High School. He graduated from high school while serving in the US Navy from October 1947 until October 1952.

Kenneth and Deva Thompson were married on March 24, 1948. After returning from the Navy Kenneth worked for ten years at Armour Meat Packing Plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. The then worked for 31 years at Inland Cold Storage in Kansas City, Kansas. Kenneth loved to garden and to show off his flowers to his neighbors and friends. He also was an avid bird watcher and wildlife enthusiast. He was kind to animals and had numerous pets throughout his lifetime. His family was his number one priority in life.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Deva Adams of Winterset; daughter Judy Lucas and husband Christ of Earlham; granddaughters Abbey Sprague of Indianola; Natalie and Valerie Lucas of Clive; grandson Ben (Lucas) Gronemyer of Earlham; sisters Lydia Potter and husband Lawrence of Seneca, KS; Donice Barrett of Sabetha, KS; Mary Jean Lindeen of Seneca, KS; brother Raymond Adams and wife Opal of Centralia, KS and many nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Minnie Adams, sisters Lela Elder; Kathryn McLaughlin; brothers Charles and William Adams.

Interment was held in the Earlham Cemetery in Earlham, Iowa. Kuhn Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
