HALLIE BEELER of Winterset Dies

Mrs. Hallie D. Beeler of Winterset, a well-known Madison county resident for many years, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1965, at a St. Charles nursing home. She was 87 years of age.

Mrs. Beeler was the widow of William J. Beeler, a prominent farmer of near Peru, who served Madison county for many years as a member of the board of supervisors, and later as a member of the Iowa legislature from this county. She was the mother of Don Beeler of Peru, who just completed a term on the county board of supervisors, and who has been a leader in agricultural and business activities in this community for many years.

Mrs. Beeler was a life-long resident of the county. She was the former Hallie Deardorf, daughter of William and Sarah Simmons Deardorf, and was born in Ohio township on Oct. 17, 1877. She was married to William J. Beeler at Peru on June 12, 1901. Their active life was spent in farming in the Peru community until about 30 years ago, when they moved to Winterset. This community had been her home since that time. Her husband preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist church, and of the Eastern Star Lodge.

In addition to her son, she is survived by two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Beeler of Gary, Ind., and Mrs. Verna Macumber of Des Moines.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. John Porath, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was to be made in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
