Services for Don. C. Hannon, 75, Winterset, who died Sept. 2 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Saturday, Sept. 5, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Lautt and the Rev. John Shaull officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born in Adair County on Dec. 6, 1911, he was the son of Charles and Elizabeth (King) Hannon. Mr. Hannnon was a retired farmer and was married to Esther Eivins on Feb. 7, 1942 at Grant City, Mo.
He was a World War veteran of the Army, and had lived here since 1945. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 184, the Lions Club, IOOF No. 406 of Macksburg, served on the Orient-Macksburg school board and the Madison County Hospital board and was a director of Farmers Mutual Insurance of Winterset.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles of Winterset; a sister Nellie Maase of Albuqueque, N.M.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
