Marie Virginia Platt, 81, of Winterset died of an intestinal ailment Jan. 2, 1999 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday Jan 11 at the Macksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Neil Platon officiating. Burial will be at Moon Cemetery (Grand River township) near Macksburg. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan 10 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m.

Marie Platt was born Oct. 14, 1917 in Madison County to Roy William and Nellie (Daisy) Platt. A lifetime resident of Madison County, she was a retired school teacher. Marie was a member of Farm Bureau, Hereford Cattlemen's Association, Macksburg United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by one brother, Francis Platt (wife Bobbie) of Ogden; two nieces, Libby Wyatt (husband Guy) of Bandon, Ore., and Susan Campbell (husband Jeff) of Norwalk; one nephew, Mark Platt (wife Deb) of Ogden; five great nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-nephew.
