DONALD SLATER, Adel

Funeral services for Darold D. Slater, 62, of rural Adel were held last Friday, June 17, from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

Mr. Slater died June 14, 1988 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A son of LeRoy and Iola Stetzel Slater, he was born March 30, 1926 in Audubon county, Iowa. He attended Earlham high school, and spent most of his life-time in Madison and Dallas counties.

Mr. Slater was a Korean War veteran. He owned and operated a construction firm, sawmill and farm. He was a former member of the Land Improvement Contractor's assoc.

On Oct 12, 1952, he was married to Norma Jean McKinzie, who survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Iola Slater of Adel; two sons, Alan and Brian, both of rural Adel; two daughters, Dawn Pieper of Stuart and Lisa Caudle of rural Van Meter; a brother, Dalton Slater of Winterset; three sisters, Darlene Webb and Diane Wright both of rural Adel, and Dorothy Irving of rural Earlham; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, a sister Donna Claire Slater and a son, Gary Ray Slater.

Officiating at the funeral was Ernest Baiotto. Burial was in Earlham cemetery.
