Dwight G. Johnson, a respected citizen and prominent member of the Winterset business community, died July 24, 1973 at Iowa-Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was 57 years of age.

Mr. Johnson was born March 22, 1916 in Winterset, the son of Will C. and Goldie Clark Johnson. A 1933 graduate of Winterset High School, Dwight Johnson graduated from Iowa State University in 1937 with a degree in General Engineering.

Mr. Johnson was married to Mary Elizabeth Wright on June 8, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri, making his home there and in New Kinsington, Pennsylvania for a short time before returning to Winterset. He entered into business here with his brother, Clarence, in the Grip-Tite Manufacturing Company.

An elder of the First Christian Church of Winterset, Mr. Johnson was vice chairman of the board of directors of that church and also served on the board of directors of the Winterset Cemetery Association.

Surviving Mr. Johnson are his wife, "Betty" Johnson of Winterset; a son, Mike Johnson of Ames, Iowa; a daughter, Susan Farlow of Ankeny, Iowa; his father, Will C. Johnson of Winterset; and three grandaughters.

Also surviving is a brother, Clarence Johnson, of Winterset. Mr. Johnson was preceeded in death by his mother and three brothers, Don, Edwin and Mont.

Funeral services for Dwight Johnson were conducted Friday, July 27 at 2 p.m. from the First Christian Church in Winterset, the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur presiding. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
