John Henry,88, of Macksburg died Jan. 21, 1997 at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Jan. 24 at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg. The Rev. Neil Platon and Dr. Robert L. Pickerell will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery.

Mr. Henry was born Aug. 18, 1908 at St. Marys to John Robert and Margaret Marie (Jones) Henry. He attended country schools in the St. Marys area. On March 29, 1924, he married Bernice Lucille Lane of Osceola. He farmed all his life in the Madison County area retiring in 1970.

He moved to the Peru area in 1926 and then to his present home south of Macksburg in 1942. He served on the Grand River Township Rural School No. 8 Board of Directors and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Macksburg.

Survivors include two daughters, Marian (husband LeRoy) Horn of Orient and Mildred (husband Bill) Clark of Dixon, Mo. five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Oct. 30 1996; five sisters, Frances Jeffries, Marie Johnson, Blanche Ross and two in childhood; and six brothers, Bill, Dave, Art, Rob, and Ray Henry and one in childhood.

John Henry, 88, of Macksburg, died Jan. 21, 1997 at his residence. Funeral services were Jan. 24 at the Macksburg United Methodist Church. The Rev. Neil Platon and Dr. Robert L. Pickerell officiated the services and burial was at the Moon Cemetery in Macksburg.

He was born Aug. 18, 1908 in St. Marys to John Robert and Margaret Marie (Jones) Henry. He had attended the St. Marys area country schools. He married Bernice Lucille Lane on March 29, 1934 in Osceola. He was a farmer and lifetime resident of Madison County. He had served on the Board of Directors for the Grand River Township Rural School #8 and was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three sisters; five brothers; one brother in childhood; and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Marian Horn and husband LeRoy of Orient and Mildred Clark and husband Bill of Dixon, Mo.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
