RALPH HERREN

Ralph M. Herren, Macksburg, died of cancer June 10, 1996 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg with the Rev. Ed Van Holland officiating. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery, Macksburg. There is open visitation from noon to 8 p.m. today with family receiving friends 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Collins Funeral Home, Winterset.

Mr. Herren was born Sept. 18, 1926 in Madison County to Coyt and Stella (King) Herren. On Jan. 1, 1950 he married Dorothy Campbell in Winterset. He was a farmer, trucker and bus driver. He was employed by the Orient-Macksburg Community Schools for 31 years. He was a lifelong Macksburg resident, serving as a city councilman for several years, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Macksburg.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Blair of Carlisle and Carla (husband Terry) Waddingham of Peru; two sisters, Mildred Eyerly of Macksburg and Eva (husband John) Luxon of Des Moines; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, son, Gary Herren; sister, Lois Phillips and a grandson.

Ralph M. Herren, 69, of Macksburg died of cancer Monday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be a 10 a.m. Thursday at Macksburg United Methodist Church, and burial will be at Moon Cemetery.

Mr. Herren lived in Macksburg all his life. He retired as a bus driver for Orient-Macksburg Community Schools, was a former City Council member and had been a member of the Methodist Church.

Among survivors are two daughters, Connie Blair of Carlisle and Carla Waddingham of Peru; two sisters, Mildred Eyerly of Macksburg and Eva Luxon of Des Moines; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Herren’s longtime companion was Eloise Eyerly of Macksburg.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at Collins Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
