Hazel A. Eivins, Hiawatha

Hazel A. Eivins, 94, died Nov. 24, 1999, at Hiawatha Care Center following a short illness.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 28, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Diana Hoover officiating. Burial was held Monday, Nov. 29, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Webster Township, near Macksburg.

Hazel Eivins was born March 31, 1905, in Madison County to James and Eva (Whitworth) Thomas. She married Ray Eivins on Oct. 22, 1924. They farmed in Madison County before moving to Colorado Springs, Colo. They later returned to Winterset. Hazel was a member of the St. Mark's United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Plocher (husband Richard) of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Earl (wife Darlene) and James, both of Colorado Springs and John (wife Lynne) of Glendale, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contibutions may be directed to the family.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
