Aletha May Lytton, Winterset

Aletha May Lytton, 85, died of heart failure March 25, 1999, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 29, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with Pastor Bill Branson officiating. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery near Truro.

Aletha Lytton was born May 8, 1913, to John Ellsworth and Bessie May (Main) Van Scoy of Osceola. A graduate of Osceola High School, she married Harold Lytton in 1937. A resident of Truro since 1937. Aletha operated a produce house, had been owner/operator of a cafe in Truro and cooked for the Congregate Meal Site in Truro. Prior to moving to Truro, she worked at the telephone office in Osceola. She was a member of the Truro United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Lytton of Truro; three nephews, Bill Van Scoy (wife Anita) of Murray, Don Van Scoy and Robert Van Scoy, both of Osceola; one niece, Beverly Smith (husband Victor) of Woodburn; two brothers-in-law, Dale Lytton (wife Jeri) of Truro and Wayne Lytton of West Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Thelma Porter of Redding, Calif. And two cousins, Frances Tolley of Osceola and Kenneth Winter (wife Jean) of Murray.

ALETHA MAY LYTTON

Aletha May Lytton, daughter of John Ellsworth and Bessie May Main Van Scoy, was born May 8, 1913, in Osceola and died March 25, 1999, at the Winterset Care Center North in Winterset. She was 85

She graduated from Osceola High School. She married Harold Lytton in 1937. They became the parents of one child, Karen.

Mrs. Lytton worked at the telephone office in Osceola until she moved to Truro where she operated a produce house, buying cream and eggs. She was also the owner and operator of a café in Truro and she cooked for the Congregate Meal Site in Truro.

She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church, first in Osceola and then in Truro.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Lytton, in 1955; two sisters, Sara, as a child and Edith Morgan; and three brothers, Floyd Russell and Lyle Van Scoy.

Surviving Mrs. Lytton are her daughter, Karen Lytton of Truro; three nephews, Bill Van Scoy and his wife, Anita Van Scoy, of Murray, Don Van Scoy and Robert Van Scoy; a niece, Beverly Smith and her husband Victor Smith, of Woodburn; cousins, Frances Tolley of Osceola and Kenneth Winter and his wife, Jeri Lytton, of Truro, Wayne Lytton of West Des Moines; sister-in-law, Thelma Porter of Redding, Calif; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were March 29 at Kale Funeral Home in Truro. Pastor Bill Branson of Winterset officiated. Doris Johnson, organist, played in the Garden and Whispering Hope.

Casket bearers were Gary Lytton, Robert Lytton, Dennis Lytton, Bob Van Scoy, Bill Green and Duane Woods. Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Madison County.
