JOHN DARRELL DAGGETT, Winterset

John Darrell Daggett, 83, of Winterset died Feb. 2, 2000, in Mesa, Ariz., where the couple wintered. A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 7, at the Monte Vista Park in Mesa. A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church in Winterset at a later date.

Darrell Daggett was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Sterling Colo. He married Jean McCauley on Dec. 30, 1942. A World War II veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard, Darrell farmed near Winterset from 1945 to 1982. He was a member of the First Christian Church, past president of Madison County Farm Bureau, a former member of the Winterset Lions Club and was the first assessor of Madison County (1948-53).

He is survived by his wife Jean; a son, Steve Daggett (wife Shirley) of Earlham, a daughter, Jane Daggett of Omaha., Neb.; and two grandchildren.
