Robert C. Burns, Truro

Robert C. Burns, 91, of Truro died of a heart ailment Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Integrated Health Services in Winterset.

Funeral services were held April 21 at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Richard Harbart of Des Moines officiating. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery in Madison County.

Robert Burns was born Jan. 19, 1907, in Orient to Edward and Susan (Lake) Burns. He attended Orient schools. He married Freda Mabel See on June 6, 1928, in Winterset. Robert, a longtime resident of Truro, was employed by Kale Funeral Home in Truro for 22 years and also farmed and operated a hardware and furniture store. He was a member of Model Lodge 315 of St. Charles and the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and five sisters.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Traster (husband Charles) of Indianola and Linda Bommel (husband Mervin) of Waukee; two sons, Robert D. (wife Linda) of Newton and Bill E. of Des Moines; one sister, Mildred Boyd of Winterset; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of Central Iowa in Winterset.
