Marine Carlson, Winterset

Marine Carlson, 92, died from complications of pneumonia, Jan. 6, 2000, at Winterset Care Center South.

Graveside services were held Sunday, Jan. 9, at Ebenezer Cemetery near Peru with the Rev. Richard Harbart officiating.

Marine Carlson was born July 7, 1907, to George and Gertrude (Webb) Ruckman of Afton. A graduate of Afton High School, she married Gustaf Albert Carlson on Dec. 25, 1927, in Afton. A homemaker and longtime resident of Truro, she moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 1972, returning to Truro in 1993. Marine was a member of the WSCS, Guild in Truro and the Truro United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son and two sisters.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan Fenimore (husband Richard) of Truro; a sister, Claire Bertch of Waterloo; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Home of Truro.

Winterset

Marine Carlson, 92, of Winterset died of pneumonia Thursday at Winterset Care Center South, where she has lived the past three years. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer Cemetery in Madison County.

Mrs. Carlson was born in Afton and had lived in Truro and Tucson, Ariz., before returning to Truro in 1993. She was a member of Truro United Methodist Church, the church guild and a knitting group in Arizona.

Surviving are a daughter, Joan Fenimore of Truro; a sister, Claire Bertch of Waterloo; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustaf Albert Carlson.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Kale Funeral Home in Truro. Memorial contributions may be made to Middle River Hospice.
