Merle Robert Jordan, 87, of Winterset died Feb. 23, 2005 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday Feb. 26 at the Patterson United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at Lincoln Cemetery in Knoxville.
Merle Jordan was born Nov. 28, 1917 in Knoxville, Iowa to L. T. and Lena (Shivvers) Jordan. His marriage to Margery Nichols took place June 18, 1942 in Long Beach, Calif. Merle, a farmer for most of his life had worked in the shipyards in California prior to moving to Madison County. He was a member of the Patterson United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau and Madison County Pork Producers. He also had served as a 4-H leader and on the Farm Service Board, Madison County Fair Board and Patterson School Board, of which he was the past president.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, LaVern, Tommy, Raymond and Ellis Jordan; a sister Lorene Robuck and a grandchild.
He is survived by his wife Margery, of Winterset; two sons, Larry Jordan of Pleasant Hill and Dennis Jordan of Prole; and four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
