Elsie Ellen Hilton, 96, died at Bickford Cottage in West Des Moines. (Oct. 2004)

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Pastor Jim Howland and Chaplain Tom Lovig officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Elsie Hilton was born July 2, 1908, in Salem, Mo. to James William Dee and Mae Dora (Williams) Halbrook. On Oct. 29, 1937, she married Jack L. Hilton at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They moved to Winterset in 1946.

Elsie had been a photo portrait painter for many years. She had belonged to numerous local clubs and organizations while in Winterset, including the First United Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Cliff, Ray and Duane Halbrook.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Hilton of Chandler, Ariz., and Jerry Hilton of West Des Moines; a sister, Vi Pringle of Fort Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
