MARTHA HAUSER

Martha Hauser, 90, of Winterset died Dec., 29, 2004 at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Friday Dec., 31 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Martha Hauser was born August 17, 1914, in Madison County to John and Ida (Dougan) Brownlie. She attended rural school and Winterset High School, graduating from the University of Northern Iowa and Drake University. On April 18, 1942, she married George M. Hauser in Cedar Rapids. Following World War II, they made their home in rural Madison County. Martha's teaching career spanned 32 years-teaching in Marshall County and the Winterset School District. Following her retirement in 1979, she was active in the First United Presbyterian Church, Child Welfare Club, Church Women United, American Legion Auxiliary, Historical Society and Hospital Guild.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother Robert Brownlie. She is survived by two sons, Douglas Hauser, D.V.M. of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Fred Hauser of Winterset; two sisters, Margaret Miller of Sun City, Ariz., and Mary Hindman of LaPorte City; and four grandchildren.
