CHARLES BEELER Dies at 79 Years

Charles Beeler, one of Madison County's most public spirited citizens over a long period of years died at his home in Winterset Monday, March 13, 1950. He had been stricken with a heart attack last summer and had been critically ill for some time. His death occurred in the new home to which he and Mrs. Beeler had moved last September.

Mr. Beeler was 79 years of age and was a life-long resident of Madison County. He was born in Walnut township Jan. 27, 1871, a son of Fred and Nancy Beeler. Much of his active life was spent in farming in that community. In recent years his home had been in Winterset.

Mr. Beeler was married in 1907 to Dora Roy of Winterset. They were the parents of five children, all of whom survive. They are, Mrs. Helen Berryhill of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Mildred Crawley, of Columbia, Mo., Mrs. Kate Miller and Gene Beeler of Leesburg, Fla., and Charles Beeler of Winterset.

He was extremely active in the affairs of his community and his church over a long period of years. He served 12 years on the Madison County board of supervisors, and six years on the Winterset school board. He had been a member of the Madison county board of social welfare since its establishment here in 1934, until his resignation last year, and recently was named as an honorary member of that group.

He had served as a deacon of the Winterset Church of Christ for many years. He had been a Mason for more than 40 years and was also affiliated with Eastern Star.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by 19 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. this Friday from the Winterset Church of Christ, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. I. E. Linkletter. Burial will be made in the Winterset Cemetery.
