VIRGINIA VAN WERDEN CASH, Winterset

Virginia Van Werden Cash, 97, of Winterset died of heart failure July 12, 2002, at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Donald Frank officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Virginia Cash was born Sept. 13, 1904, in Grinnell to Edwin and Bessie (Ricker) Parish. She married Charles Van Werden in 1930. Mr. Van Werden died in 1955. In 1978, she married Ralph Cash. Virginia had resided in Winterset for most of her married life. She was a retired home economics teacher, having taught in Knoxville, Leon and Winterset. She was a member of P.E.O., Tri Delta Sorority and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands.

She is survived by three sons, William Van Werden (wife Sylvia) of Lincoln, Neb., Lawrence Van Werden (wife Dotti) of Osceola and James Van Werden (wife Sue) of Adel; a daughter, Gretchen Otto (husband Nelson) of Minnetonka, Minn.; a brother, Bill Parish (wife McGee) of Moscow, Idaho; a sister, Gwen Foster of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare of Winterset.
