Mrs. Edith McKee of Winterset died Monday, Sept. 17, 1956, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital here at the age of 38 years. Her death resulted from cancer, and occurred about 13 months after the death of her eldest daughter, who died Aug.
4, 1955, at the age of 11 years, also of cancer. Mrs. McKee had been ill for the past six months.Mrs. McKee had been a resident of Winterset since 1940. She was the former Edith Miller, and was born at Lockridge on Sept. 3, 1918. She attended the Iowa Methodist school of nursing in Des Moines. After her graduation in 1940, she came here to work as a nurse in the Winterset hospital.
She was married to Donald McKee of Winterset on March 16, 1942. They were parents of three children, Margann, and the twins, Maurice and Marcia, who are now 10 years of age.
She had been a church member since early life, and was active in the Winterset United Presbyterian church during her life in this community. She was affiliated also with Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, the son and daughter, Maurice and Marcia; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Miller; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Rogers; and a brother, Paul Miller; all of Winterset.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset United Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. S. C. Picken. Burial was to be made in the Winterset Cemetery.
