Museum Fund Donor Jordan Dies At 68

Clifford H. Jordan, 68, of Cedar Rapids, whose recent contributions made possible groundbreaking for the Madison County Historical Mureum, died last Friday, Nov. 17, 1978 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Prior to his retirement in July, Jordan was an executive officer with Kilborn Photo Paper Co., Highway Equipment Co., and Jordan Building Corporation.

An obituary and sports feature in last Friday's edition of the Cedar Rapids Gazette heralded Jordan as entrepreneur of amateur and professional golfing activities. His contributions in grants and promised loans to the Madison County Historical Society totaled $200,000.

Born Oct. 17, 1910 at Des Moines, Mr. Jordan moved to Davenport in 1930 and to Cedar Rapids in 1942. He married June Russell, Nov. 22, 1931 in Chicago.

Mr. Jordan served on the boards of Coe College, St.Luke's Hospital, Merchants National Bank and YMCA in Cedar Rapids. He was a former member of the State Banking Commission, a former member of Governor's Committee for State Reorganization and an honorary member of the Iowa Professional Golfers Association.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Richard T. of Cedar Rapids and Dennis E. of Holden, Mass., a daughter, Linda K. Rice, of Greendale, Wis., eight grandchildren; two brothers William T. of Costa Mesa, Calif. and Robert of Vancouver, Wash; and one sister Bernice Ebert of Muscatine.

Funeral service for Clifford Jordan were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday Nov. 18 from Westminster Presbyterian Church with Dr. John Woods officiating. Burial was made at Cedar Memorial Cemetery.

Those attending the services from Winterset were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jordan, Mrs. Myrtle Clark and Donald Jordan and son Bruce.
