LORIMOR RITES FOR JOHN NEELY

John Franklin Neely, lacking three days of being 79 years old, died Monday evening, June 23, 1969 at the Veterans Hospital in Reno, Nevada, following a series of operations.

The son of Pinckney Edwin and Sarah Eldora Neely, he was born on a farm near Lorimor, on June 26, 1890, and most of his boyhood years were spent in this vicinity. In early youth he united with the United Methodist Church in Lorimor.

Several years of his early life were spent in Omaha, Nebraska in the insurance business previous to 1917 when he enlisted in the Unit K Hospital Corps during World War l and was sent over seas for the duration. Returning to the States in February 1919, he was sent to a sanitarium in Colorado to try to rebuild his health.

Many years of his later life were spent as a cook, most of which were at the Veterans Hospital in Livermore, Calif. Since retiring in 1955, he has lived near Reno, Nevada.

Survivors include four sisters and one brother: Mrs. Gertrude Smith of Lorimor, Ferol Neely of Alden, Mrs. Clark Watkins of Grinnell, Miss Florence Neely of Winterset and Mrs. Wilbur Weidie of Bellflower, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Forrest Jordan and Mrs. Eldon Wilson of Winterset, Mrs. Charles Gardner of Mingo, Fred Neely of Des Moines, and Ernest Samuel Neely who died in infancy.

Funeral services for J. F. Neely were held at 2: P.M. Thursday June 26 at the Watts Solls Funeral home in Lorimor with Rev. James Seibert of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was made in the Lorimor Cemetery.
