April 1997Donald Edwin Jordan, 74, of Winterset, died of cancer March 31, 1997 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Peru United Methodist Church. Pastor Joan White will officiate the services and burial will be at Winterset Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by American Legion Post #184 and V.F.W. Post #8142
He was born in Madison County on Jan. 14, 1923 to Forrest and Daisy (Neely) Jordan. He was a 1939 graduate of Winterset High School. He married Wilma Lois Cline on Sept. 22, 1949 in Winterset. He was a farmer and had been employed by Circle B. Cashway for many years as a home builder. He was a lifetime resident of Madison County and a member of the Peru United Methodist Church. He had served in the U.S.Army Air Corps and was credited with 50 missions in Europe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and his step-mother. Surviving relatives include his wife of Peru; one son, Bruce Jordan and wife Emily of West Bend, Wisc.; three daughters, Christine Jordan of Des Moines, Sharon Stiles and husband Bruce of Waterloo, Andrea Dryer and husband Joel of Oelwein; two brothers, Lee Jordan of Winterset and Ralph Jordan of Lorimor; two sisters, Treva Patterson of Winterset and Carol Altenbern of Dubuque and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Peru United Methodist Church or Middle River Hospice.
