Betty Forsyth, Winterset

Betty Clare Forsyth, 69, of Winterset died of cancer July 20, 2003, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Don Frank officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 23) at Collins Oak Park Chapel with the family present from 6:30-8 p.m. Burial will be at Greenfield Cemetery.

Betty Forsyth was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Adair County to Zene L. and Hilda Imogene (Cutting) Chambers. She moved to Winterset from Adair County in 1968. She also had resided in Orlando, Fla., in 1964 and 1965. Betty had been a community support specialist for Genesis Development in Winterset. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lee Chambers and Murrell Chambers.

She is survived by six daughters, Linda Niblo, Denise Jeffs, Angela Brockway and Jeanne Forsyth, all of Winterset, and Diane Hircock of Benson, Minn., and Doreen Garrett of Macksburg; a son, Jeff Forsyth of Winterset; a sister, Donell Skellenger of Greenfield; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
