Ernest "Slim" Miller, Peru

Ernest "Slim" Frederick Miller, 82, of Peru died of a respiratory ailment June 4, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, June 7) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset with Pastor Steve Koch officiating. Burial was at Peru Cemetery.

Slim Miller was born April 14, 1918, in Adair County to Herman and Frenzie (Mangels) Miller. He married Maxine Loree Datwyler on Sept.3, 1948, in Winterset. A farmer, he resided in Madison County for most of his adult life. Slim was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset and an Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers.

He is survived by a son, Carl Miller (wife Mary) of Peru; a daughter, Carrie Cornelison of Murray; a brother, Elmer "Buck" Miller of Peru; a sister, Ruth Anderson of Lorimor; a sister-in-law, Aletha Miller of Denver; five grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his family.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
