PATRICK J. KIRVIN Dies at 54 Years

June 14, 1950

Patrick J. Kirvin, well known Winterset resident, died Sunday, June 11th, 1950, at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines, after an extended illness. He had always made his home in Winterset or Madison County, until two years ago, when he moved to Des Moines. He entered the Veterans hospital December 20th, and had been a patient there since then.

Mr. Kirvin, a son of John and Elizabeth Kirvin, was born in Rantoul, Illinois, April 28, 1896. He came to this county with his parents, when he was a small boy. They lived on a farm west of Winterset, until his father died in 1927, after which the mother and children moved to Winterset. The mother died in 1943, at the Kirvin home on West Filmore.

Pat, as he was familiary known here served in World War I., and following his discharge, was associated with the Standard Oil Company for a number of years.

The Rev. J. J. Judge conducted the mass and funeral services, at St. Joseph Catholic church Wednesday morning, at 9 a.m. and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. Six nephews served as pallbearers: Eugene, John and Philip Corkrean, and John, Joe and Donald Kirvin.

Mr. Kirvin is survived by one brother and three sisters: John Kirvin of Cumming, Mrs. Ann Carney of Des Moines, Mrs. Alice Roach of Indianola, and Mrs. Frances Corkrean of Scott township, and a number of nieces and nephews.
