HUGH YOUNG FUNERAL HELD WEDNESDAY

Winterset Madisonian
May 2, 1979

William Hugh Young, 78, Rural Route 2, Creston died Sunday, April 29, 1979, at his home. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Collins Funeral Home with burial at the Winterset Cemetery. Officiating were Rev. Russell Hart of Creston and Rev. James Morris of Afton.

The son of Hugh Allison and Lillie Estella Binns Young, he was born on July 3, 1900, in Winterset. On April 20, 1924, he was married to Faith Rose Bond in Adair County. She preceded him in death on December 21, 1970. On November 14, 1972, Mr. Young was married to Irene Winkler in Union County, who survives him.

A farmer, Mr. Young retired and moved from rural Winterset to Creston in 1972. He was a member of the Oak Grove Church.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Chester; and a sister, Ruth Eivins.

Other survivors include a daughter, Edith Marxen of Lewis, Iowa; a stepson, Larry Winkler of Round Lake, N.Y.; five brothers, Alfred of Earlham and Clarence, Howard, Earl and Ralph, all of Winterset; three grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, and two step grandaughters.
