Edna Alice Price, daughter of John and Alice Dunn Johnston was born at Macon, Illinos, December 16, 1874, and died at the Winterset hospital, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 1931, at the age of 56 years. She spent her girlhood days in Macon. After she received her high school training she attended the Normal Training school at Normal, Illinois, and taught three years in the Macon county schools.

While on a trip, visiting relatives in Winterset, in 1895, she met LeMont V. Price, of this town. They were married three years later on October 5, 1898, at Macon, Illinois, in the same house in which she was born. She returned with him, to a farm, 2 1/2 miles southwest of Winterset, where they made their home for thirteen years. Here their four children were born: Mrs. Llyra Alice Thompson of Columbus, Ohio; Lloyd Albert, who died in infancy at the age of 16 months; Russell Ruby of Oskaloosa, and Norma Ellen at home. When the children were of school age, they moved to Winterset, in 1911, so that they might have better school privileges.

Mr. and Mrs. Price purchased the property at the end of West Green street, and this place has since been their home.

Mrs. Price became a member of the Methodist church in her girlhood, and later transferred her membership to the Winterset church; she took an active part in the various activities. She was also a member of Chapter AG; P.E.O. and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Price leaves her husband, three children, and one grandson, Loel Edmand Thompson. She also leaves a brother and four sisters who live in or near the old home at Macon, Illinois.
