Forest D. Spencer, Winterset

Forest David Spencer, 85, died of acute leukemia Nov. 26, 1998, at Country Haven Home near Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 30, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset with Pastor John Shaull officiating. Burial was at Peru Cemetery.

Forest Spencer was born Sept. 10, 1913, in Peru to Tommy D. and Bradie B. (Stoneman) Spencer. He graduated from Peru High School in 1931. He married Pauline Paxton on Feb. 22, 1941, at Logan. Forest, a retired farmer, was a lifetime resident of Madison County. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winterset.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, David Spencer of Peru, Paul Spencer of Springfield, Ohio, and John and Mark Spencer, both of Des Moines; two daughters, Mary Spencer of St. Paul, Minn., and Ruth Taylor of Des Moines; two brothers, Ralph Spencer of Ankeny and Robert Spencer of Peru; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Winterset.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
