Marvin P. Armstrong, Winterset

Marvin Perry Armstrong, 84, died Aug. 2, 1999, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 7, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Richard Harbart officiating. Burial was in Peru Cemetery.

Marvin Armstrong was born May 24, 1915, to Perry and Ethel Mae (Morgan) Armstrong of Peru. He was united in marriage to Thelma Pauline Youmans on April 6, 1936, at Bethany, Mo. He worked at the Natural Gas Pipeline Company for 29 years, retiring in 1979. Marvin also was a member of the Eagles Lodge at Ottumwa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of St. Charles; a half sister, Mary Rhone of Truro; and a half brother, Johnny Robshaw of Sioux falls, S. D.

MARVIN PERRY ARMSTRONG

Marvin Perry Armstrong, son of Perry and Ethel Mae Morgan Armstrong, was born May 24, 1915, at Peru and died Aug. 2, 1999, at the Winterset Care Center South. He was 84.

He married Thelma Pauline Youmans on April 6, 1936, at Bethany, Mo.

Mr. Armstrong worked for the Natural Gas Pipeline Co. for 29 years before he retired in 1979.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge of Ottumwa and an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Orville Armstrong; and two sisters, Ruby Armstrong and Edna Mathews. Mr. Armstrong is survived by his wife of 62 years, Thelma Armstrong, of St. Charles; a half sister, Mary Rhone of Truro; a half brother, Johnny Robshaw of Sioux Falls, S. D.; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were Aug. 7 at Kale Funeral Home in Truro, the Rev. Richard Harbart of Johnston officiating. Interment of the cremains will be in the Peru Cemetery.
