Nathaniel Piper Wiggins was born in Sanbornton, New Hamphire, October 19, 1821, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P. W. Scott, near Truro, Iowa, May 22 1907, age 85 years, 6 months, and 23 days. He was a son of Jesse &___ R Wiggins, the eldest of six children, only___ther surviving, Van Buren Wiggins of Kansas.

He was a grandson of Wm. Eaton, a soldier of the revolutionary war. His early life was spent in New Hampshire. When a young man he united with the Baptist church and adhered closely to the christian faith through life.

In 1845 he was married to Hannah Wallace, to this union were born three children, Luther N., of Lysle, Kansas, Mrs. Mark Hillan, of Earlham, Ia., and Mrs. P. W. Scott, of Truro, Iowa. In 1869 the family imigrated to Madison county, locating in Crawford township, where they lived until 1876 when the wife and mother died, since which time he has made his home with his daughters.

Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mrs. P. W. Scott, Thursday, afternoon, May 23, at 3 o'clock, by Rev. Charles Hoover, after which interment was made in the Hartman cemetery. He leaves to mourn his loss and to treasure his memory, three children and sixteen great grandchildren.
