Death of John Kirvin

John Kirvin, who has made Madison county his home for the past twenty-four years, died suddenly, Sunday afternoon, October 23, at his home, in the north part of town. Mr. Kirvin has not been in good health and only two weeks ago moved from his farm, four miles west of Winterset, to a house on Filmore street, owned by Mac Gentry. His condition was not thought serious, however, and he was up town on Saturday. The members of his family had a picnic dinner in the woods, north of town Sunday, and he, not feeling well, stayed at home. About four-thirty o'clock, Miss Nora Allgeyer and Miss Callie Adams went to call on the family, and found him, lying dead on the kitchen floor. It is thought that heart trouble caused his death.

Mr. Kirvin was sixty-seven years of age. He moved here from Illinois 24 years ago, and had since made this locality his home.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Anna, at home; Mrs. Fannie Corkrean, of Union township, and Mrs. Alice Roach, of Lee township, and two sons, John, of Cummings, and Patsy, who resides on the home place. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. John Bradberry, of Urbana, Illinois, who came to Winterset Monday night.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Luke Plunkett, at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Wednesday morning, October 26, and burial was made in the Rock City cemetery.

Mrs. Kirvin's brother and sister, John Wiggle and Mrs. Maddigan, of Chilo, Illinois, also came Monday evening to attend funeral services of their brother-in-law.
