Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at the Friends church for Mrs. Lottie Thomas, who died Wednesday at the home of her son Wayne after a lingering illness.
Mrs. Thomas had been living in Earlham since the first of April until about a month ago when she became so ill she was removed to the home of her son. She is survived by three children, Wayne of Earlham, Loyal of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Earl Sifert of Maywood, Ill.
Rev. Walter Wilson preached the funeral sermon and two musical numbers were furnished by a mixed quartette. Mrs. Thomas was a birthright member of the Friends church. Besides her children she is survived by one sister and five grandchildren. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.

Charlotte, daughter of Amos and Elizabeth Nichols Diggs, was born near Earlham, December 9, 1872. A birthright member of the Friends church she made acknowledgement of Christ as her personal Savior when 15 years of age.
Charlotte attended school in Earlham and grew to womanhood on the parental farm near Earlham. On December 4, 1894, she was united in marriage with Lindsey Thomas. Three children were born in this home, all of whom survive her passing. The husband and father passed away May 18, 1937 and one brother, Charley T. Diggs passed away September 1, 1916.
Mrs. Thomas has been a devoted wife and mother, a true home builder and a loyal member of the church, which she loved. She has been interested in and helped to promote all worthy community enterprises, taking a personal, kindly interest in her many friends and neighbors. She has cherished a keen interest in good literature, being especially fond of poetry.
Having made her home in recent years with her children, she came to Earlham to live last April. She has been in failing health the past few years. Only a few weeks ago her strength began to decline rapidly and she was taken to the home of her son, Wayne, where she has had the constant, loving care of her children. She passed away Wednesday, November 3, 1943, at the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
She is survived by one sister, Dr. Leora Brehm, of Des Moines; two sons, Wayne Diggs of Earlham; Loyal Peter, vocational counsellor in Long Beach high school, California, and one daughter, Lillian Princelle, wife of Earl Sifert, superintendent of Proviso high school, Maywood, Illinois. Also there are five grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held from the Friends church Friday, November 5, at 2:30. The pastor, W.H. Wilson officiating. A mixed quartette Messrs, Mervyn McLennan and Fred Fry and Mesdames Robert Godby and Leo Conrad sang two numbers, with Mrs. Fry as accompanist. Interment was made in the family lot, Earlham cemetery.
