Page 1Death of Richard Desmond
Richard Desmond, who had lived in Madison county during the past fifteen years, died Saturday evening, November 23d, at the City hospital in Des Moines. Mr. Desmond had had a heavy cold, and had gone to Des Moines two weeks ago for treatment. His condition became worse and he entered the hospital three days before his death.
Mr. Desmond had no relatives living in this part of the United States. It is stated that he was raised in Boston. He was about 50 years of age. During the past four years he had resided on the Nick Nolan farm in Union township. Only a month ago he had a public sale of some of his stock and machinery.
The Rev. W. C. Porter, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, conducted the funeral services at Ramsey-Richards funeral home, Tuesday afternoon, November 26, at 2:30 o'clock, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
