Larry B. Zeutenhorst, 47, of Lorimor, died of complications of bacterial infections on March 13, 1995 at the Des Moines General Hospital. Funeral services will be March 16 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Winterset. The Rev. John Shaull will officiate the services and burial will be at the Clark Cemetery. Visitation will be today at the First Baptist Church from Noon until 8 p.m. Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m.
He was born Aug. 7, 1947 in Alton, Iowa to Bernard and Johanna (DeJaeger) Zeutenhorst. He married Karla Jean Johnson in Winterset on Feb. 14, 1981. He had moved to Winterset 14 years ago from Orange City. Prior to his death, he was Chief Deputy Sheriff for Madison County. He was a past commander of the American Legion and had served as 3rd vice commander. He was also a member of the Winterset Optimist Club; Iowa State Sheriff and Deputies Association; and the National Sheriff's Association. He had served in the Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his fatherr.
Surviving relatives include his mother and stepfather, Johanna Vlietstra and Bill of Orange City; his wife; one son, Todd Zeutenhorst of Orange City; one daughter, Melissa Zeutenhorst of Orange City; six brothers, Howard Zeutenhorst of Haywarden, L. Jonathan Marven of Virginia, Randy Zeutenhorst of Winteset, Russ Zeutenhorst of New Jersey, Stan Zeutenhorst of Tama, and Robert Zeutenhorst of Maurice; and two sisters, Ruth Connor of New Jersey and Joan Denver of Arkansas.
