Mrs. Geo. Poffinbarger

Ida Mary Burd, daughter of Rev. S. S. and Mary Burd, was born in Minard county, Indiana, February 19th, 1857, and departed this life October 23rd, 1926, aged 69 years, 8 months and 14 days. She was one of a family of twelve children, six of whom have preceded her in death.

In April, 1865, she moved with her parents to Walnut township, Madison county, where she lived until the family moved to Winterset in 1885.

She was united in marriage to G. W. Poffinbarger December 2nd, 1886. To this union were born three children, two of whom died in infancy.

She joined the Methodist church at 12 years of age. In 1906 she changed her membership to the Predestinarian Baptist church and remained a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted. In spite of frail health her life so filled with love and sweetness has brought helpfulness and a large influence for good into the lives of many others.

She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, daughter, four brothers, and one sister, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. Geo. Jones from Knoxville. She was laid at rest in the Rock City cemetery.
