Early Chapel Woman Died In Des Moines Hospital April 6 After Breaking Hip In Fall.
Mrs. Mary Frances Boothroy, 73, well known resident of the Early Chapel community, died Tuesday morning, April 6, at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines where she had been taken after she had fractured her hip in a fall April 3.
OBITUARY
Mary Frances Davis, daughter of John and Philena Davis, was born October 18, 1863 in Madison County, Iowa, and passed away April 6, 1937, at the age of 73 years, five months and 18 days.
At the age of 24, she was united in marriage to Frank Emanuel Boothroy. To this union nine children were born. Two-Lilly and Thomas having preceded her in death.
In 1887, they moved to Goodland, Kansas, where they lived nine years, returning to the old Davis homestead in Madison County, Iowa, where they lived seventeen years. They then moved to Dallas County, Iowa, where they lived until the death of her husband, after which time, she made her home with her children.
In her early youth she united with the North River Church of Christ where she was a member until some years later when she transferred her membership to the Capital Hill Church of Christ Des Moines of which she remained a member and always showed a willingness to do church work wherever opportunity presented.
She had been in ill health for a number of years. On April 3rd she fell, suffering a fractured hip. She was taken to the Methodist hosptial where she passed away Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.
Her suffering was intense and she bore it patiently until God called her home.
She leaves to mourn her departure seven children: Mrs. Nellie Taylor of Earlham; Mrs. Lena Lundgren of Los Angeles, California; Joseph Boothroy of Pontiac, Michigan; Mrs. Elizabeth Harmon, Mrs. Alma Emerich, Florence and Jessie of Des MOines.
The family with the exception of Mrs. Lundgren and Joseph were all at her bed side during her last hours. But the entire family attended the funeral service which was held from the Church of Christ of Earlham conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis assisted by Rev. J. H. Machlan, pastor of Earlham Church and Rev. Emmett Cook, pastor of Early Chapel Church of Christ.

Succumbs at Hospital After Having Fractured Hip in Fall
Mrs. Mary Frances Boothroy, well-known woman of the Early Chapel neighborhood, died last Tuesday at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines. She had suffered a fractured hip in a fall a few days earlier. She was 78 years old.
Mrs. Boothroy was the former Mary Frances Davis, daughter of John and Philena Davis, and was born October 18, 1863, in Madison county. At the age of 24 years she was married to Frank E. Boothroy. In 1887 they moved to Goodland, Kansas, where they lived nine years, and then returning to the old homestead here. After 17 years they again moved, this time to Dallas county where they lived until the death of Mr. Boothroy. After that she made her home with her children.
In early youth she united with the North River Church of Christ. Some years later she transferred her membership to the Capitol Hill church of Christ in Des Moines.
She is survived by her seven children, Mrs. Nellie Taylor of Earlham, Mrs. Lena Lundgren of Los Angeles, California, Joseph Boothroy of Pontiac, Michigan, Mrs. Elizabeth Harmon, Mrs. Alma Emerich, and Florence and Jessie Boothroy, all of Des Moines. Two children, Lilly and Thomas preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ at Earlham by the Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Machlan, pastor of the Earlham church, with the Rev. Emmett Cook pastor of the Early Chapel Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
