HORACE M. BOND RITES HELD HERE

Rev. B. W. McEldowney Conducted Services from Methodist Church Monday, December 18

Funeral services for Mr. H. M. Bond, well known Madison County farmer, were held from the Earlham Methodist Church Monday, Dec. 18, conducted by Rev. B. W. McEldowney of Fontanelle, former pastor of the local church. Interment was in the cemetery here. The choir was conposed of Mrs. C. M. Soderberg, Mrs. Arthur Marks, Mervyn McLennan and Scott Shifflett with Mrs. Mervyn McLennan accompanying at the piano. The pallbearers were J. A. Moody, M. R. Foster and R. B. Breckenridge of Winterset, A. W. Johnston and Albert Scrivner, of St. Charles and Ray Smith of Earlham.

OBITUARY

Horace McConnel, son of John F. and Martha Ann Bond, was born near Kilbourne, Ill., July 16, 1866, and grew to manhood in that vicinity.

On Jan. 13, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Addie M. Fitzhugh. To this union were born six children, Mrs. Ruth Lunn, who passed away in 1915 and whose two small children were taken into the grandparental home for two years; Mrs. Grace Lueben, Montevido, Minn; Mrs. Mary Young, St. Charles; Robert H., who is at home; John Frank, who preceded his father in 1925 at the age of 19, and Stephen F. of Earlham.

In 1896 Mr. bond with his wife and two daughters came to Clarke County, Iowa, and in 1902 they moved to Madison County where they have since made their home.

When a young man of about 24, Mr. Bond united with the Eckman Chapel M. E. Church near Ashland, Ill. After coming to Madison County he transferred his membership to the St. Charles M. E. Church where it remained until his death.

On Dec. 16, 1933, at the age of 67 years, and five months he took his departure from his home eight miles west of Winterset. He is survived by his widow and four children, one brother William H., Detroit, Michigan, one sister Margaret Ellen Fitzhugh, Alvin, Texas, 12 grandchildren and a host of friends. The later years of Mr. Bond's life were filled with suffering caused by in incurable malady, but he was patient, uncomplaining and resigned to accept things as they came.
