Death of Former Resident

John A. Cox, who was born March 4, 1873, in Bureau county, Illinois, died Thursday, November 21, at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 17 days. He died with heart trouble at his home in California. He had lived in Madison county for a number of years.

At the age of 10 years he moved with his parents to Madison county and June 30, 1897, was united in marriage to Bertha E. Travis. Three children were born to this union: Mrs. Grace Ingersoll of Blue Lake, California; Mrs. Lois Escue of Chardon, Kansas, and Walter, who is still at home.

He went to Korbel, California in 1922, and has been employed by the Redwood Lumber company since that time. He recently purchased a small ranch on Liscome Hille, where he had just moved with his family.

His sudden death from heart trouble came as a shock to his family and friends, although he had not been in the best of health for some time.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two daughters, a son, four grandchildren, a brother and one sister in Kansas, and one sister in Missouri, and a host of relatives and friends in California and in Iowa, where he spent the greater part of his life.

The funeral was held at the Dulson funeral home in Arcata, California, Sunday afternoon, November 24th, at 1:30 o'clock, the Rev. Homer Bodley officiating. He was buried in the Greenwood cemetery at Arcata.
