Winterset Madisonian – 17 Aug 1898
George A. Ruth, son of James and A. M. Ruth, of Douglas Township died after a lingering illness, August 12th, 1898, aged 28 years. His parents, three sisters and a brother survive him. He was a sincere christian, an obedient son and was very patient and hopeful during his long sickness. The funeral services were on Saturday p. m. at the house, conducted by Dr. Ely. A large procession off relatives and friends followed the body to the cemetery.

Local PickupsGeo. A. Ruth, a young man 28 years old living near Winterset, died last Friday morning of dropsy and Bright’s disease. The remains were interred at one o’clock Saturday, Revs. Follansbee and Ely officiating at the funeral.
Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
