Dan Langan, for many years a charge of the county, died suddenly Saturday morning at the county farm. He was in his usual health and ate a hearty breakfast as usual. He was stricken with heart failure and died almost instantly.

He was quite an odd character and a familiar figure on our streets and his Irish drollery was always expected and rarely failed to furnish a laugh. Before coming to Winterset he lived in the Irish settlement in the northeast part of the county.

A former wife lies in Churchville cemetery and another wife and three children are buried in Winterset cemetery, where he was laid to rest on Sunday morning. He was 78 years of age and was born in Ireland.

Coordinator note: Wife in Winterset Cemetery is buried with Langon spelling.
