Death of Mrs. J. A. P. Harlan

Will Thompson, of Jackson township, received a message telling of the death of an aunt, Mrs. J. A. P. Harlan, at the home of her son, Oran, in Marionville, Missouri, June 13th. The funeral services were held at Storm Lake, June 17th, where she was buried beside her husband, whose death took place in 1923.

Mrs. Harlan, who was almost 85 years of age, leaves three children, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Both Mrs. Harlan, whose maiden name was Laura Bard, and her husband, Ad Harlan, will be remembered by old residents of Madison county, as they grew up in Douglas township. Mrs. Harlan came to this county in 1856. They went to Buena Vista county, to take up a homestead, after their marriage in 1869.
