Charles LaVerne Neidt, 83, of Truro died March 31, 2000, from complications following heart surgery at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 2, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Dennis Shepherd officiating. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery, Walnut Township, Madison County.
LaVerne Neidt was born Feb. 7, 1917, to Frank and Edith (Spurgin) Neidt of Truro. He was raised on a farm near Truro and received his elementary education at the Ebenezer Elementary School. He graduated from Truro High School in 1935. On June 24, 1939, he was united in marriage to Josephine Beeler in the home of her parents. They farmed near Truro for 42 years, retiring in 1982. LaVerne was a member of the Truro United Methodist Church and was a former 4-H leader for the Ohio Future Feeders, as well as a former member of the Truro Saddle Club and the school board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and a sister.
He is survived by a son, Don Neidt (wife Virginia) of Osceola, Mo.; two daughters, Sonia Allen (husband Dan) of Winterset and Nina House (husband John) of Bolckow, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Evelyn Brant (husband John) of Truro and Cleona Knapp of West Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
