CURTIS M. BINNS Funeral Held Monday

Funeral services for Curtis M. Binns were held Monday morning, June 19, from the Methodist church in Adel. Burial was in Rest Haven cemetery at West Des Moines.

Curtis McDonald Binns, son of James and Mary McDonald Binns, was born on April 19, 1907, on a farm near Winterset in Madison County.

He died June 15, 1978, at the hospital in Clarinda, Iowa at the age of 71.

Mr. Binns farmed all his life in Madison and Dallas counties until retiring in 1969.

He graduated from Earlham high school, and attended Earlham junior college for one year. He was married to Carol Boyle on Oct. 1, 1935.

He was active in community affairs as long as health permitted, serving on the school board and Methodist church board at DeSoto, and the Methodist church board at Adel. He was a long-time member of Odd Fellows Lodge, also the I.O.O.F. Encampment and Patriarchs Militant, and the Adel Lions club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, and infant grandson.

Surviving are his wife of Adel; three daughters, (Betty) Mrs. Wallace Geary of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, (Kathleen) Mrs. Ronald Stonhocker of Earlham, and (Susan) Mrs. Glen Ramsey of Plymouth, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Carl Busch and Mrs. George Wilkie, both of Greenfield, and Mrs. Clifford Peters of Perry; and a brother, Wayne Binns of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

CURTIS M. BINNS

Curtis McDonald Binns, son of James and Mary Binns, was born on April 19, 1907 on a farm near Winterset, Iowa, and passed away June 15, 1978, at the hospital in Clarinda, Iowa, at the age of 71 years and 2 months.

Curtis was a farmer all of his life in Madison and Dallas counties until retirement in 1969. He graduated from Earlham high school, and attended Earlham Junior College one year.

Curtis was married to Carol Boyle on October 1, 1935, and they were the parents of four daughters, one dying in infancy. He was active in his community as long as his health permitted, serving on the school board and Methodist church board at DeSoto, and the Methodist church board at Adel.

He was a faithful member of the Oddfellows, Lodge for many years, also the Grand Encampment and Patriarchs Militant, and the Adel Lions Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents, the infant daughter, and an infant grandson. Surviving are his wife Carol of Adel, daughters (Betty) Mrs. Wallace Geary of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; (Kathleen) Mrs. Ronald Stonehocker of Earlham; (Susan) Mrs. Glen Ramsey of Plymnouth; seven grandchildren: Kaila amd Seay Geary, Terry, Dennis and Steven Stonehocker; and James and Donald Ramsey. Three sisters: (Opal) Mrs. Carl Busch, (Maxine) Mrs. George Wilkie, both of Greenfield; and (Lois) Mrs. Clifford Peters of Perry, and a brother, Wayne Binns of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Mervin Nelson at the United Methodist Church in Adel at 9:00 a.m. on June 19.
